  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Oh, we are going to miss you so much too! Me, Ben and Geroge!

I wouldn't mind an Elaine hug too! I'm glad I get to see you all so soon. I wish I could help with the move. I need to get my Germany visit plans started!

claire, please quit your day job and just become a photographer -- you're brilliant -- looks like ben is doing well -- although who is this GEROGE of which you speak? -- x o -- george.

George-o! You know if I could, I would quit my job and become your family's official photographer, right? I wish I could do that. Sorry for the typo - I'm typing and doing HTML on my little phone at the moment! I'll get it fixed! (And thank you! I hope you are doing well in Germany.)
